Ohanami - Cherry Blossom Viewing
I must say that " Ohanami " is a must thing to do for most Japanese in cherry blossom season. End of March to the begining of April is the best season for Ohanami (cherry blossom viewing / picnic under the cherry trees ) in Osaka.
As far as I know, in no other countries but Japan people go out with a lunch box and have get-together with friends and colleagues, enjoy eating and drinking under the lovely cherry blossoms that blooms only for a limited time.
Ohanami sitting under the trees may be a unique custom for people who live in the country that has no such custom. Best place for ohanami (cherry blossom viewing) gets occupied quickly, first come first get the best place, so there is a case that someone is sent to spread a sheet and keep the space for others much earlier than the Ohanami party starts.
Osaka Castle Park with 4,500 cherry trees close to Hotel New Otani Osaka in 5 minutes is selected as one of the best cherry blossom viewing spots from 100 places in Japan by The Japan Cherry Blossom Association.
Hotel prepares special seasonal lunch box available at the Restaurant " Azalea" and gives away Sakura Maps of Osaka Castle Park to our guests who want to stroll in a park.
Other recommended places for cherry blossom viewing are :-

・Hirakata park with 300 cherry trees
・Kema Sakuranomiya Park with 4,300 cherry trees
・Yoshinoyama Mountain in Nara with 30,000 cherry trees
