A day in Nara, Todaiji Temple

                  Todaiji Daibutsu

<Continued story - A Day in Nara >

At the Todaiji Temple, you may have a WOW! experience
looking high up the colossal statue of Budda (Nara Daibutsu) of
approx. 15 meters tall and his hands of 2.5 meters.
The wooden structure of temple is also awsom with the greatest
temple gate in size in Japan.

You may wonder why they needed to build this huge statue of
Buddha. Emperor Shomu has ordered to build Todaiji Temple to
pray for people's health and to confront with the epidemic ravaged
the town.

There is a pillar with a small hole at the bottom, and it is said that
going through this hole means to pray for your good health.
The size of the hole is said to be the same size as that of Buddah's nostrils.
Evebody is so excited going through such a small hole and struggling out.
Don't miss to try for your good memory in Nara!
