Ebessan Festivals in Japan
10th January was the day of "Ebessan" festival when merchants
and business persons visit Ebisu Shrineｓ and pray for a luck
in their business and bring back lucky items that are believed
to rake up good fortune and money.
The "Ebisu", you may heard this name as Japanese beer brand,
is known as the god of prosperity and success in business.
Many local people also visit Ebisu Shrines on 9th January (Yoi Ebisu),
10th January (Toka Ebisu) - the main date, and 11th January
(Nokori Fuku), and for them Ebessan is a good opportunity
to enjoy street stalls of various kinds that sell crepes, takoyaki,
hot sake and oden, cotton candy, etc.
