DANJIRI MATSURI FESTIVAL

Date : 3rd Saturday & Sunday of September
Place : Kishiiwada city, Osaka
Time : morning - evening 
Admission fee : free of charge

This Festival is called " Kenka Matsuri "  that literaly means a fighting festival.
Decorated DANJIRI (floats) moves in a great speed along narrow roads.

KANGETSUSAI FESTIVAL

Place : Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine , Osaka
Time : 6:00p.m. -

September full moon (harvest moon) called " jyugoya ", is considered to be the most sublime. The moon becomes brightest and most beautiful in a year.
A big ceremony to play for a good harvest is conducted in Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine.
Traditional dance, music, Waka and Haiku are performed on a beautiful bridge at night.
The performers and players wear gorgeous Heian period costumes.

UNEME MATSURI FESTIVAL

Children and women costumed in ancient dress dance on colorfully decorated boats.

GION - SHA KANGETSU SAI FESTIVAL

Place : Yasaka Shrine , Kyoto

Kangetsu Sai is a moon viewing festival. An interesting feature of this ceremony is the combination of classic and the traditional dances.

THE LARGEST FLEA MARKET IN OSAKA

Place : Shitennoji Temple , Osaka

Shitennoji temple is the oldest Buddhist temple and was built in Japan over 1.400 years ago. During an equinox week, a large flea market is open attracting 250,000 visitors in total!
This is the biggest market in Osaka with over 300 outlets.
You can see all kinds of shops from antiques to miscellaneous daily goods.
